Animation

As per my resume, I did attend the Rochester Institute of Technology for Film/Animation. I specialized in hand-drawn 2D animation, as my inspiration to pursue this path was Hayao Miyazaki, the founder of Studio Ghibli. I've always had a unique respect for hand-drawn animation, as it truly is a time-consuming, grueling, and very intimate art. Animators spend many, many hours over a light table drawing and redrawing and redrawing, hundreds to thousands of images to make a simple movement.

The way that the animation program was set up at RIT encouraged independent production. There were no "animation teams" as you'd normally see in an animation studio. Each student was required to produce and manage their project from start to finish. Of course, you could recruit others to assist in a variety of ways, but that did not detract from the large amount of animation, coloring, and composisting work the lead needed to complete. This is a terribly intense program as all videos needed to be produced in a short period of time almost single handedly.
